Saffron (Crocus sativus) is an herb that is full of rich history, spanning from Cleopatra, and the ancient Greek-Romans, to Crete during the Late Bronze Age. The resulting traditional knowledge serves as a modern day roadmap for growers, researchers and enthusiasts alike. Current scientific approaches serve as an experimental filter to help support research and development of novel practices.

Saffrosystems, LLC was originally conceived by CEO Khalil Z. Mirza in 2017 in attempt to illuminate how agro-ecological practices could help address climate and crop disruption. While apprenticing under expert saffron researchers from the North American Center for Saffron Research and Development, the Saffrosystems team developed a niche and passion for C. sativus. We pride ourselves on our collaborative work with the global saffron community including domestic growers, international researchers and culinary specialists.
